Quagga and Zebra Mussels, foreign aquatic species, have overtaken lakes and rivers, imperiling native species and overwhelming everything from hydropower intakes, agriculture pipelines, boats and shorelines, devastating Eastern US waters. Just last year, Montana discovered mussel larvae in their lakes, and Montana’s Governor declared a natural disaster. On this episode of Elemental Idaho (first recorded in March), our guests, Representatives Terry Gestrin and Tom Dayley talk about this threat and what steps are being taken to keep this pest from invading Idaho.
