6/21/17 – Managing Invasive Plant Species (encore)

Every year in Idaho, noxious weeds cause agricultural losses, diminish critical habitat, increase wildfire events, reduce water and air quality, threaten public health due to pest control issues, and limit recreational opportunities. There are roughly about 300 undesirable plants in all states, with about 64 of those in Idaho, and they posses an alarming ability to spread. Why landowners, policy makers, outdoor recreationists and conservation groups are concerned about invasive plant species and what is being done about them. In this program, rebroadcast from 2012, I talk with weed experts Jeffrey Pettingill of Bonneville County and Bryce Fowler of Freemont County.

This was an encore episode of Elemental Idaho. You can hear the original broadcast here.
