In mid 2014, The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality began a statewide survey to estimate fish consumption rates among Idaho residents. Information from the survey has been used to revise a water quality rule that’s currently under consideration in the 2016 Idaho legislative session. On this episode of Elemental Idaho, rebroadcast from June 2014, we talked about the potential outcomes for the survey and what changes to current water quality standards might mean in Idaho. Don Essig from Idaho DEQ, Scott Hauser from the Upper Snake River Tribes Foundation and HDR’s Tom Dupuis were our guests.
