11/12/14 – The Gateway West Transmission Project – Filling in the Gaps

Last year, the BLM approved eight of the ten segments of the Gateway West High-Voltage Interstate Transmission Line Project in Wyoming and Idaho, deferring a decision on the last two segments until it could conduct stakeholder outreach and public engagement. At the time, officials with the BLM’s National Landscape Conservation System (NLCS) opposed an alternative route for the project through the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area in favor one some felt would adversely affect Greater sage-grouse populations in Owyhee County. On this episode of Elemental Idaho, BLM Officials discuss the current supplemental Environmental Impact Statement for these segments of the projects, their findings and public comments.
