Every year in Idaho, noxious weeds cause agricultural losses, diminish critical habitat, increase wildfire events, reduce water and air quality, threaten public health due to pest control issues, and limit recreational opportunities.
There are roughly about 300 undesirable plants in all states, with about 64 of those in Idaho, and they posses an alarming ability to spread. Why landowners, policy makers, outdoor recreationists and conservation groups are concerned about invasive plant species and what is being done about them.
Our guests for this show were weed experts Jeffrey Pettingill of Bonneville County and Bryce Fowler of Fremont County.
The resources mentioned in the program include idahoweedawareness.org and Ada County Weed and Pest.
